How to Search the Ackerly Court Docket
Let the citation or notice be your map. Ackerly offers no public citation portal, no online calendar, no payment page, and no municipal case screen for a docket search. The state's Office of Court Administration 2025 directory lists no separate Ackerly municipal court either. So go court-first. Read the document that was issued, then contact the clerk it names.
- Write down the citation or cause number exactly, including every letter and dash.
- Record the issuing agency, court name, court address, charge, and printed deadline.
- Call the named court and ask whether the matter has been filed and set.
- If a Martin County JP is named, identify the correct precinct grouping before mailing anything.
- If the court cannot be read, ask the issuing agency only which court received the citation.
- Confirm the date and payment or plea instructions directly with that court.
The agency that wrote the ticket does not always keep the docket. Its job is to point you to the venue; the court clerk is the one who answers questions about status, settings, copies, and how a case ended.
Ackerly Docket Venue Crosses Counties
Ackerly's own municipal profile puts the incorporated city in both Dawson and Martin counties. That geography drives every Ackerly docket search. An Ackerly street address does not prove Martin County holds the court record. What controls is the issuing court and the jurisdiction tied to it. Depending on facts the city name cannot show, a citation might route to an assigned justice court. It could also go to another proper venue. The 2020 Census table lists 264 people. That figure covers the incorporated place as a whole. That is not a Martin-only figure, and it is not a count of Ackerly court cases. No official filing total exists for the city. Treating 264 residents as a measure of local court traffic would be a claim the number cannot support.
Court-first rule: Use “Ackerly” to describe the place, but use the named court to decide where the docket lives.
The Ackerly Municipal Court
The OCA 2025 Municipal Courts by City directory carries no separate Ackerly Municipal Court entry. That gap is a directory fact. It is not proof that no city official can ever handle a violation. It does mean no judge, clerk, court phone, docket day, or payment portal should be invented for Ackerly. It also means Stanton's municipal information belongs to Stanton. It should not be copied across. If a document names an Ackerly city function but no court, use the official municipal contact route to confirm venue. It might name a JP court, a county court, or a district court. It might name another municipality. Deal with that office directly. The Martin County LGS system is not a documented index of every municipal citation. A blank LGS result settles nothing about venue on its own. Note: The missing OCA entry justifies caution. It does not support a claim that a court or case cannot exist.
Ackerly Docket Contact Route
The Texas Municipal League Ackerly profile lists the official city-administration contact route: P.O. Box 37, Ackerly, TX 79713-0037, and 432-353-4868. It also notes incorporation in 1959 and confirms the split Dawson-Martin geography. Call that number to pin down venue. Do it when a document is unclear. Once a court is identified, though, switch. Take anything about the docket to the clerk of that court.

Ackerly Court Dates and Settings
Ackerly posts no official daily calendar or remote-hearing page. The responsible court may say otherwise later. Until then, the date printed on the ticket or notice is the working deadline. Call with the exact citation or cause number in hand. Ask what kind of date it is. It might be a response deadline, an appearance, docket call, a pretrial event, or a trial setting. Those terms are not interchangeable.
| Date | The day printed on the notice or later confirmed by the responsible clerk. |
|---|---|
| Time | The appearance time or docket-call time given by the court. |
| Court | The municipal, justice, county, or district venue that actually filed the matter. |
| Location | The court address or approved appearance method, not merely an Ackerly address. |
| Setting Type | The purpose, such as plea, pretrial, trial, compliance, or another listed event. |
A reset simply moves the setting later. It does not dismiss the case, so ask the clerk to state the new date and explain how updated notice will reach you.
Record These Ackerly Ticket Details
Good notes prevent calls to the wrong office. Keep the original ticket and copy every identifying field exactly as printed. One wrong digit in a citation number, a misspelled name, or a mismatched court label can stop a clerk from finding a newly filed case. The city name alone is never enough.
- Citation number
- The unique number printed by the issuing agency; include letters, zeros, and dashes.
- Issuing agency
- The police, sheriff, constable, or other agency that wrote the ticket.
- Named court
- The court instructed to receive the plea, response, or appearance.
- Response date
- The printed deadline or appearance date, which remains active until the court changes it.
- Disposition
- The court's recorded outcome, distinct from the original allegation.
Also jot down the alleged offense, the court address, any payment or plea directions, and the name of any clerk who confirms a setting. Keep receipts and later notices with the citation.
Ackerly Traffic Tickets
An Ackerly traffic ticket does not always belong to an Ackerly city court. Read the court block before doing anything. It might name one of Martin County's justice courts. Call 432-756-3445. Say whether the paper is for Precincts 1 & 3 or Precincts 2 & 4. A court in Dawson County governs its own cases. So does a court in another municipality. Being the Martin County seat does not let Stanton take them over.
Ackerly posts no fine schedule or defensive-driving eligibility chart. There is no deferred-disposition fee, payment processor, plea form, or failure-to-appear table. The date printed on the ticket controls. That holds until the court says otherwise. Ask it for the current total. Ask about accepted payment methods, whether you must appear, and any option that fits your case. For broader venue help, see the county traffic court records page.
Paying and contesting lead to different results. A web receipt from a court is not automatically a certified disposition.
Why Stanton Misses Ackerly Dockets
Stanton's municipal court page and its GovRec link serve Stanton Municipal Court only. They are city-specific tools. They will not search Ackerly citations. They will not cover Martin County's other municipal courts or cross the Dawson county line. Searching there first can return nothing. An Ackerly-area case may still be open in the right court.
The county-linked LGS Online Record Search deserves the same caution. It offers login and guest controls. But it does not promise full traffic fields or complete municipal coverage. A blank result can mean the wrong court, a newly filed case, an older paper record, a restricted case, or a spelling and number mismatch. A blank result never proves a dismissal.
Do not miss a deadline. Contact the court printed on the ticket even when Stanton and county portal searches return no record.
Can't read the court named on the paper? City administration or the issuing agency can help identify the right recipient. After that, the clerk of the named court owns the status question.
Where Ackerly Cases End Up
Ackerly itself does not settle the question of court level. Fine-only and ordinance matters go to whichever municipal or justice venue has jurisdiction. Martin County misdemeanors, probate cases, and assigned county civil matters land in the Constitutional County Court. Felonies, district civil disputes, and family cases run through the District Clerk function. That clerk serves the 118th District Court. OCA lists Big Spring as that regional court's primary location.
Docket flow: Responsible Municipal or JP Court › Martin County Courts › 118th District Court
This flow maps levels, not a guaranteed route for any single case. A matter on the Dawson side may travel Dawson County routes instead. A lawful lower-court appeal follows the judgment and the current rules. So confirm the receiving court and the deadline. The Martin County court docket overview covers the county-side functions in more depth.
Ackerly Population Is Not Caseload
The 2020 Census incorporated-place table puts Ackerly at 264 residents. That number spans the place across its Dawson and Martin geography. It says nothing about how many residents sit on the Martin side, how many citations police issued, or how many cases a court heard.
The Census table explains why only two incorporated Martin County cities get profiled here. It cannot support any estimate of court volume. Ackerly publishes no annual caseload count. It lists no specialty docket, night court, teen court, amnesty program, or remote-hearing tally.
The Census place source also supplies the population record behind the city ranking.
Population data is geographic and demographic. The issuing court still governs the docket.
Ackerly Certified Court Record Custodians
Get certified copies from the court that actually holds the case. City administration cannot certify a JP record just because the event happened in Ackerly. The Martin County clerk likewise cannot certify a file held by a different clerk. A Dawson County or municipal clerk holds those files. Before asking for a price, nail down the court. Also confirm the cause or citation number, the document name, and the date.
Know what you are requesting. A docket entry is an event index. A plain copy just reproduces a document. A certified copy adds the custodian's formal authentication. If you need proof of disposition, ask for that specific order. Ask whether certification is required too. Ackerly publishes no copy fee of its own. Never assume the Martin County combined clerk's fee table applies to a different venue.
Before mailing anything to P.O. Box 37, call 432-353-4868 and confirm whether city administration will only identify the court. Once the true custodian is known, get its current payment, postage, identification, and delivery rules.
Public Access to Ackerly Court Records
Access to Ackerly court records follows the law and rules governing the actual record. Texas case records are judicial records. The Texas Public Information Act covers government information. Rule 12, by contrast, reaches judicial administrative records. It is not a general case-file request method. A public search may omit some records. Sealed records, protected juvenile material, and confidential family or child-protection information can all be left out.
Key Rules:
Texas court open-records policy - distinguishes adjudicative case records from judicial administrative records.
Texas Government Code Chapter 552 - contains the Texas Public Information Act for records within its scope.
Texas Family Code Section 58.007 - protects specified juvenile justice information.
Give the custodian enough detail to find the file, and say whether you want inspection, a plain copy, or certification. A missing online image may point to the wrong venue or an access limit. It does not establish the case outcome.
